Book review Monday || The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
10:33 am
Hello BloggerBeans,
Its the first Monday in January and this month, starting from today, every Monday in January will be filled with a book review.( How exciting!) If you remember back in October in a past post HERE (7 Teenage points for you if you do) I talked about reviewing the first book in the Hunger Games trilogy which I have finally finished reading! I do enjoy watching film adaptations of books and then comparing them back to the book and more often than not the book will always better than the film and this was defiantly the case with The Hunger Games. Unlike The Fault In Our Stars, I watched the film first which I preferred as that meant I did not know the ending which I prefer as film endings compared to the book are normally a lot better and this was the case for The Hunger Games. However the film for me consistently missed subplots and scenes which may not of drawn away from the plot however added more depth to character profiles and gave an insight into the characters lives. Parts such as where Katniss's family visit her before she heads to the capitol via the train. In the book Peeta's family also visits Katniss and there is a constant reference to when Katniss was younger living in district 12 with Peeta throwing 2 bread rolls to her out of kindness and Katniss always feeling like she owes Peeta something for his kindness and generosity. This was referenced in the film however I did not understand it until I read the book as it was mentioned and explained more.
I also found with the film that the 'Games' was drawn out too much with for the majority of the time with nothing much happening. comparing this to the book, which contained a lot of crucial fine detail which somehow was unfortunately left out which may have gained my interest while watching the film.
Overall the book was thoroughly enjoyable and I would totally recommend it as it is a fantastic read which provokes a lot of heartfelt emotion including fear, pity and frustration.
What are your opinions on the Hunger Games and if so, which is better, the book or the film?
See you later x

I really love The Hunger Games series, I need to read them again because I've not long watched the 3rd film and I want to compare, I know what you mean about the film but I still love the film and I think they have done the books justice. Nice review.
