Day In the Life || SITC and meeting Becki0 and Hazel Hayes
11:00 am
Hello Bloggerbeans,
Before I tell how much of a fabby time I had at Summer In The City (SITC), I want to apologize about the not posting on Thursday/Friday. If you follow me on twitter (If you don't you should, I post really interesting things...) then you would of seen my tweets explaining that the days leading up to SITC got very busy with prep ready for the day. Also last weeks post was supposed to be a Room Tour oriented post however I felt if I waited a couple of weeks I could get out a more final and more polished post with better quality photos as my dad has agreed if my exam results go well I can get a proper fancy camera to take better photos. There's nothing wrong with taking photos on my Iphone however as my blog progresses I want to make sure my posts are to the best standard possible and as I've shown myself that Blogging has now become a long term investment hobby, I feel like I should up my game and take it more seriously.
Okay on to SITC as I am bursting with so much to tell you wonderful Bloggerbeans! This was my first ever SITC so I wasn't quite sure what to expect however I was very overwhelmed (In a good way!) of the sheer scale of it. Everyone there was so friendly and nice and I even got to meet a few familair faces - More on that later.
I decided to wear my Dungarees as I felt they would be comfortable to walk around in along with some converse-esque style shoes and my frilly socks. I am so glad I decided to wear something sensible on my feet as me and Elizabeth were walking around A LOT. I think I had learnt from my previous mistake of wearing sandals when I went with Amelia to see Sprinkleofglitter... Now that was something I didn't want to repeat!
I also decided that I wanted my hair to be curly however I am pants at curling so decided to plait it into two plaits when It was still damp after washing it and leave them in over night. I have been Loving this heat free way to get naturally wavy hair and have been doing it all summer long. My waves stayed in all day which was quite surprising by the amount of hair touching that happened.
OOTD -Dungarees (Primark), Blue T-Shirt (Primark), Blue lace socks (Primark again...) and Shoes (Shoezone)
My Makeup look for the day
After an early morning start at 6am, It was time to head to the train station and catch our 8:50 train to London. At this point my happiness levels were off the scale as I was so excited to be attending for the first time.
On our way to London.
Once we arrived in London it was a quick Tube journey to the Excel Centre where we arrived at 11am to lots of people heading in the same direction. Once we got into the building we had to get our tickets scanned and got given our wristband for entry. (How exciting!)
The expo hall where we got our wristbands for entry and for our meet and greet later on.
Now this is where I forgot I was blogging today and took no pictures of the expo hall as I was too busy being an excited rabbit caught in the headlights buying Merch left, right and center...
There were moments in the day where I felt like I needed to stop and take everything in as it was weird seeing people I watch regularly standing a couple of feet away from me and casually saying hi to them. I feel like my hyperventilating fan-girl days are a little bit behind me as at the end of the day Youtubers are just people who have thoughts and feelings like everyone else which should be respected. It just hadn't sunk in that the people who I have the up-most respect and admire certain aspects of their work were in the same room as me. At one point Bry walked past me and I just kinda looked on and Dodie also ran past me. Both moments I felt a little dazed as that definitely wasn't an every day occurrence to happen to me.
after buying far too much Merch and so nearly meeting Bry and Emma Blackery [Long story short the queue was cut and we were told to go but people stayed and they eventually got to meet him :( and for Emma being a human being she needed to go into the back room and take a break which is understandable - no hard feeling though x ] we walked around the stalls and came across a Disney pop up stall with a Canvas back drop to take pictures and selfies with props with. I swear to you guys I was very happy in the photo however when I looked back on it we both look terrified! I think it was because our anxiety was through the roof. I have no idea why my body thought it was a good idea to make me nearly have an anxiety attack at SITC but I tried to keep on going through it. Anxiety is just the worst (Bluergh!)
While walking around we happened to spot Becki0 who we had already been allocated in the balloted meet and greet. She was so kind and lovely (and possibly gave the best hugs ever!). A couple of minutes before she had re-tweeted my tweet of a picture of me wearing one of her Trich Fighter wristbands. It made me feel so happy that tweet made her happy and when I said thank you for re-tweeting my tweet she said that was you?! and looked so happy. It was honor that I could wear one of these wristbands with pride. We talked about a number of things along with another one of her followers about Lush and surprisingly boobs!
Me and Beckie
After we left Becki0 we just took everything in and wandered around. It wasn't too long until we had to go out of the main expo hall across to the first hall where we got our entry wristbands to queue for a very long time in a long line to get our Balloted meet and greet wristband to wear. While in the queue we decided to eat some snacks which we brought and to pass the time came up with a fun game called 'By the time we get to the end of the queue' where we made up hypothetical situations that might possibly happen. My favourite one was By the time we get to the end of the queue Series 4 of Sherlock would of been released :)
When it was time to meet Becki0 again we went to the our meet and greet lane along with everyone else who was meeting her. I found it so strange how to our left we could see Jonathon and Anna Saccone-Joly's meetup along with Lucy and Lydia's and to our right we could see Luke Cutforth (Lukeisnotsexy) and Gary C's meet up. We then met Becki0 again and took more pictures and said hi and then left to go and look round the expo hall before then waiting by the main stage for the YouTube Awards to happen at 6pm as we wanted a good spot near the front. As we were walking out fro the Meet and Greet Luke made eye contact with me and I waved at him and to my surprise he waved back which made me very happy.
Everyone meeting their favourite creators made me happy and tear up slightly as for some YouTube is the only place where they can forget about whats happening in their personal life for a bit and absorb themselves through watching others who make them laugh and smile and even happy for a little while and forget any worries they may have. That is a big thing for one person to do and for me that's why meeting some of these people is so important to them. *tears up from Luke meeting his followers*
Me and Hazel Hayes
While walking round the expo hall before the YouTube awards I saw Hazel at her Merch stand selling Unnecessary Otter bags, T-shirts, posters and mugs and I really wanted to buy a mug and poster as I love Unnecessary Otter so I did. I was so tired and just a delirious mess that I can't remember what I said to Hazel but I wish I had congratulated her on Septem so I am doing it here now. Hazel if you are reading this (which you probably are not as you have important short films and tipsy talks to make with Louise) then you are a very inspiring woman who's work is just phenomenal. There really isn't enough Female directors in this industry and you work so hard everyday. Septem was also incredible from start to finish. you should be proud! (Also whales are mammals.. I have to side with Louise on this matter)
Not taken by me but by one of the creators at the event of the crowd at the Youtube awards
The YouTube awards was the highlight of my night with Nikki and Sammy presenting. My favourite moments had to be when Dan and Phil received their silver 100,000 subscriber play button for Dan and Phil crafts and Dan thanking all the Crafties out there and when Emma Blackery sassed everyone for them to turn around for the big 'Oscar' style picture.
We then stayed for Dodie's set where she sang her original song she along with her covers of The Chain and Four Five Seconds with Jack Howard. I love Dodie and her music as I find her voice so soothing to listen to and is very unique. I really wanted to stay for Bry's set and to see Jack and Dean live but my friend Elizabeth who I went with was starting to feel claustrophobic so after hearing Dodie Perform we made ourselves through the crowd and left into the main hall where we saw Nikki and Sammy however because my phone and Elizabeth's Ipod had run out of battery we had no means of getting a photo and couldn't say hi as they then went to their Merch stand *sad face*
After all the amazing things we did we then left to get the train home where I proceeded to have a little nap as the night before I was too excited to sleep which was a not a very good idea at all...
It had been a thrilling and very tiring day!
By the time I got home it was around 11pm and I was shattered from the days travelling and adventures that I took my makeup off, took all the things I got out of my bags and put on top of my chest of drawers and then got into my warm cosy bed and slept dreaming off the amazing day I had of meeting people who I respect greatly. I slept very well indeed!
All the wristbands I acquired
This post took forever to write so be sure to leave a comment telling me if you went to SITC this year and if so what your favourite part was or if you didn't tell me what Youtuber you would like to meet one day in the future. I loved SITC so much that I have decided to go for the whole weekend next year so I can get the most out of everything.
